Michael O'Regan, PhD is a Lecturer in Tourism and Events for the Department of Fashion, Marketing, Tourism and Events. Michael teaches in the field of tourism and events, covering all aspects of both sectors at both postgraduate and undergraduate level.
Michael worked in the tourism and events sectors in Ireland for a number of years, including three years at Wicklow County Tourism, Ireland as Marketing Executive. Michael submitted his PhD thesis in 2010, and has worked in Higher Education institutions in China and the United Kingdom, before joining Glasgow Caledonian University in 2022.
Michael is an active researcher with research published in journals such as Leisure Studies, Tourist Studies and Current Issues in Tourism. His research interests include tourist, urban, historic, future, alternative, lifestyle, slow and cultural mobilities, backpacking, overtourism and Chinese outbound tourism.
Michael’s work experience and research heavily informs his current teaching, where he focuses on guiding students to become lifelong learners, work to industry standards and meet their career aspirations.
