Naveed is a lecturer in the Department of Economics and Law and a member of the WiSE Research Centre for Economic Justice within the Glasgow School for Business and Society.
Naveed is the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Economic Policy, leads several modules within the school, and teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His teaching and research interests include the political economy of care, heterodox economics, economic policy, and environmental economics.
Recent research projects include the economic case for addressing gender-based labour market inequalities, the local economic impacts of private water supplies in Scotland, and the impacts of childcare on parental poverty, employment and household costs in low-income families.
He graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics with Politics, and an MSc in Applied Economics before completing his PhD, which examined the economic impacts of early learning and childcare expansion in Scotland. During his PhD, he also spent time as an assistant economist within the Scottish Government.
