Nikhil is an optometrist from India, who is currently a full-time PhD student at the department of vision sciences. He graduated from All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bachelor of Optometry in 2016. He came to Glasgow to pursue a master’s in clinical ophthalmology and vision research in 2016 and completed it in 2017. After completing his master’s, he was involved in teaching optometry to undergraduate students in India from 2018 to 2019.
Nikhil returned to GCU in 2019 to undertake a PhD. His research focuses on investigating the role of Demodex mites on the ocular surface. He is also involved in supporting clinical teaching on the vision sciences programme. He has demonstrated his commitment to teaching and supporting learning in higher education by achieving professional recognition as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
His research is supervised by Dr Eilidh Martin, Dr Ian Pearce, and Dr Suzanne Hagan.
Research interest: Demodex blepharitis, ocular surface, dry eye disease.
