Sarah Renton

Sarah qualified as registered nurse in 1991 from Forth Valley College of Nursing and Midwifery and has worked within a variety of orthopaedic settings. Recognition of the development of an innovative hospital at home service was achieved when awarded the BUPA Clinical Excellence Award in 2001.

She joined GCU in 2002, initially as a Lecturer-Practitioner and has held roles including; Module Leader, Year Leader, Programme Leader and Admissions Tutor.
Her current interests include: orthopaedic/surgical nursing; global health; interprofessional working/education and pre-registration nurse education. She is a peer-reviewer for the International Journal of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing.

She has published and presented in the area of orthopaedic nursing and role development of healthcare professionals. International work has included delivering a programme of orthopaedic nursing in Malawi, representing the Royal College of Nursing Orthopaedic Society at the National Association of Orthopaedic Nursing Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, presenting at the International Qualitative Health Research Conference, in Banff, Canada and development and delivery of a CPD programme to nurses tutors at the Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
