Shanley Smith is a Researcher at GCU, where she is part of the Blood Borne Virus research team led by Professor Sharon Hutchinson. Her principle research field is viral hepatitis. A southern California native, Shanley earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Point Loma Nazarene University in 2011.
In 2014, she moved to Glasgow, Scotland where she completed a master’s degree in Public Health Prior to joining GCU, she held clinical and administrative roles in the fields of occupational health and research assistance.
Shanley’s role at GCU predominantly involves close collaboration with NHS Public Health Scotland managing the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Clinical Database, which records data on patients engaged in HCV treatment and services across Scotland. Additionally, she leads on research projects involving the HCV Clinical Database.
