Susan Mitchell
Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor
As Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Susan leads a broad range of Professional Services functions at the University and chairs the Professional Services Leadership Forum. She also supports the Glasgow Caledonian University Students’ Association and works closely with their leadership team on enhancing the student experience.
Susan has worked at the executive level in Higher Education for nine years, six at Glasgow Caledonian and previously held executive level roles in the Police Service. Originally qualifying as a teacher, before later training in accountancy, Susan has a commercial background with various leadership positions in retail.
With a degree in Education from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Public Leadership from the University of Warwick, Susan is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (FCPFA), Board Governor/ Chair of the Finance Commercial and Estates Committee at a Scottish FE College as well as Board Director and Chair of Finance & Audit Committee at a scientific research institute.
