Sven is a Senior Lecturer in Vision Sciences, Programme Lead of the MSc IOVR, and the Vision Research Group Lead. Prior to joining the faculty of Glasgow Caledonian University, Sven studied optometry in Berlin and Philadelphia and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Vision Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Sven holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and has significant experience in curriculum development, delivery, and quality assurance. He is a member of The College of Optometrists (UK) and the Association of German Contact Lens Practitioners and Optometrists (Vereinigung Deutscher Contactlinsenspezialisten und Optometristen, VDCO).

Research Profile
Sven is an educator, clinician, and vision sciences researcher. His primary research interests include the structure and function of the eye in health and disease, ophthalmic public health, and the delivery of eye care nationally and internationally. Sven’s work has received support from The College of Optometrists, The Visual Research Trust, The Carnegie Trust, Santander Universities UK, and the Chief Scientist Office of the Scottish Government.
