Thelma is a lecturer in management, leadership and professional development. She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and across academic programmes. Thelma is the EDI lead as well as the MSc professional practice placement lead for the Business Management Department.
Thelma submitted her thesis titled “A critical analysis of the effectiveness of microfinance banks as tools for promoting financial Inclusion in Nigeria” in 2020. She is an active researcher. Her research interests include social and financial Inclusion, poverty alleviation, food security, alternative finance, organisational behaviour and culture, entrepreneurship, community development, gender and racial justice.
Thelma has worked in both industry (banking and third sector) as well as in academia with a cumulative work experience spanning almost 30 years. These experiences heavily inform her current teaching practice where she focuses on guiding students to work to industry standards and acquire skills necessary for thriving in their chosen career paths.
