Usman is a European Union Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Fellow in the Data Science for Common Good research group, working under the supervision of Professor Sebastien Chastin. Professor Chastin is the Principal Investigator leading a cutting-edge European Commission-funded research project - the LABDA project (Learning Advanced Behavioural Data Analysis). The project's focus is on revolutionising movement behaviour data analysis using Large Language Models (LLMs), primarily aimed at enhancing health risk prediction and method interpretability.
They are spearheading an initiative to craft a universal 24-hour human movement behaviour taxonomy using LLMs. This fusion of data science with philosophical insights, leveraging unstructured data, marks a ground-breaking approach in the field. Prior to this, Usman spearheaded innovative data-driven projects in the healthcare sector across Europe and served various clinical roles as a Physiotherapist in both public and private hospitals.
Usman is endorsed by the UK Research and Innovation as Global Talent. He holds a postgraduate degree in applied artificial intelligence from Erasmus University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Brussels, an Advanced MSc in Public Health Methodology from Université Libre de Bruxelles, an MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy with a specialisation in Cardiorespiratory and Metabolic Disorders from the University of Antwerp, and a Bachelor's in Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) from the University of Maiduguri. He has authored peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals.
