Vicky Joshi is a Lecturer in physiotherapy in the Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedicine. Vicky qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001 from the University of Southampton. Specialising in neurorehabilitation she worked in the NHS until 2016 when she moved to Denmark and worked at the University of Southern Denmark and at Odense University Hospital. While there she undertook research in the areas of cardiac rehabilitation/complex interventions and completed a PhD focused on rehabilitation after cardiac arrest.
Vicky’s research continues to focus on post-cardiac arrest interventions including rehabilitation and support interventions for survivors and their families. More widely, she is interested in the existential aspects of recovery post-cardiac events and their impact on rehabilitation. She has published widely in international journals and been invited to speak at international conferences including the Post-cardiac arrest Symposium in Lund, Sweden in 2022 and the Danish Cardiac Arrest Conference in 2023. She is a member of the Resuscitation Council UK Cardiac Arrest Quality Standard group.
Vicky is currently module lead for the MSc Pre-reg Neurorehabilitation module and provides supervision to students undertaking their pre- and post- registration MSc dissertations. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology.
